[About Lathe Products]
We are particular about a technique that finishes wood by polishing it without applying lacquer or other coatings. This is called "kiji-shiage" (wood grain finish), and it allows you to fully appreciate the beauty of the wood grain, as well as the texture and warmth of the wood. Due to this kiji-shiage, the wood may slightly expand or contract depending on the season, climate, and the environment in which it is used, which may affect the fit of the lid. Please note that the color tone may differ depending on the shooting conditions and your terminal screen.
[Care Instructions]
- Occasionally wipe with a soft cloth. Even if you don't use a cloth, simply stroking the entire surface with your hand each time you use it is fine.
- If water gets on it, wipe it off immediately (excluding fuki-urushi treated products).
- Do not place in direct sunlight or in hot, humid places.

Wood Turner Keizo Nishiwaki (Member of the Japan Kiji-shi Association, Nagano Prefecture Woodcraft Instructor)
Our products begin with the previous generation's search for raw wood. We searched for wood with mountain owners in Nagano Prefecture and neighboring prefectures, and the artisan personally felled it. There were many years when we prepared several truckloads of precious wood, but year by year, large, aged trees became scarcer. Buying from the market would be quite expensive, so we carefully produce products from the raw wood left to us by the previous generation. I have a sense of mission to maximize the beauty of such precious wood, while also being grateful for it. Woodturning may seem simple and understated at first glance, but I believe it is a job that can convey the proof that a tree has lived for decades or even hundreds of years. By carefully allowing the raw wood to rest for decades, the wood learns the seasons, and I determine the timing for productization with my own hands. Perhaps I can hear the voice of the wood, something only those who have worked with wood for many years know.
