Our products begin with the search for raw timber by my predecessor.
We searched for wood with forest owners in Nagano Prefecture and neighboring prefectures, and the artisan himself felled the trees. There were many years when we prepared several truckloads of fine timber, but over time, large, old trees became scarcer. Buying from the market would make them very expensive, so we carefully craft products from the raw timber left to us by my predecessor.
I feel a mission to thank these precious trees and to maximize the beauty they possess.
Woodturning may seem simple and understated at first glance, but I believe it is a profession that can convey the証 (proof, evidence) of a tree having lived for decades or even hundreds of years. By carefully seasoning the raw timber for decades, I allow the wood to remember the four seasons, and I determine the timing for product creation with my own hands. Perhaps only those who have worked with wood for many years can hear its voice.
