[About Lathe-Turned Products]
We are particular about a technique that finishes wood by polishing it without applying lacquer or other coatings. This is called plain wood finishing, and it allows you to fully enjoy the beauty of the wood grain, and the feel and warmth of the wood. Due to this plain wood finishing, the wood may expand and contract slightly depending on the season, climate, and environment in which it is used, which may affect the fit of the lid. Please note that the color tone may differ depending on the shooting conditions and your terminal screen.
[Care Instructions]
- Please wipe it occasionally with a soft cloth. Even without a cloth, simply stroking the entire surface with your hand each time you use it is fine.
- If water gets on it, wipe it off immediately. (Excluding wiped lacquer products)
- Do not place in direct sunlight or in hot and humid places.
[Artisan Introduction]
Woodworker Yoshizou Nishiwaki
(Member of the Japan Woodworkers' Association, Nagano Prefecture Woodcraft Instructor)
Our products begin with our predecessor's search for raw wood.
He searched for wood with forest owners in Nagano Prefecture and neighboring prefectures, and the craftsman himself felled the trees. There were many years when he prepared several truckloads of fine wood, but over the years, large, aged trees have become scarce. Even if purchased from the market, it would be quite expensive, so we carefully turn the raw wood left by our predecessor into products.
I have a mission to appreciate such precious wood and to bring out the maximum beauty it possesses.
Woodcraft may seem simple and understated at first glance, but I believe it is a job that can convey the proof that a tree has lived for decades or hundreds of years. By carefully curing the raw wood for decades, I let the wood remember the four seasons, and I determine the timing for productization with my own hands. Perhaps I can hear the voice of the wood, something only someone who has handled wood for many years would know.
